The Lookout Bench

About this Project

This Bench was designed for a Bauhaus inspired property on The Lizard, Cornwall.  I wanted to design a bench which suited the Modernist styling of the house whilst also embracing its wild Cornish coastal setting. The polished stainless steel frame takes its influence from designs of Bauhaus architects Josef Albers chair and Marcel Breuer.  The irregular curves on the seat and back as well as the more regular curve of the legs represent the coastal view which the bench overlooks.
